Krestova is an unincorporated community located on Highway 6 between Slocan Park and Crescent Valley. It was founded by Doukhobors, a religious group that migrated from Russia in the early 20th century. Krestova has a cultural centre that hosts events and festivals celebrating Doukhobor heritage.
Winlaw is an unincorporated community located on Highway 6 between Slocan Park and Appledale. It was named after John Brown Winlaw, a pioneer who settled in the area in 1892. Winlaw has a general store, a post office, a cafe, a bakery, a brewery, and several art galleries and studios.
Slocan Park is an unincorporated community located on Highway 6 between Crescent Valley and Passmore. It was established in 1900 as a railway station for the Nakusp and Slocan Railway. Slocan Park has a community hall, a fire hall, a gas station, a convenience store, and a farmers’ market.
Crescent Valley is an unincorporated community located on Highway 6 at the junction with Highway 3A. It was originally called Slocan Junction, as it was the terminus of the Nakusp and Slocan Railway. Crescent Valley has a community hall, a fire hall, a gas station, a convenience store, a restaurant, and a beach park on the Slocan River.
These four communities are part of the Regional District of Central Kootenay’s Electoral Area H, also known as the Slocan Valley. The Slocan Valley is a valley in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada, that is known for its natural beauty, mining history, and diverse culture.
